Start your application with a short cover letter telling us what motivates you. Tell us something about yourself and why you are just the right person for the trainee position. Also add your CV, your last school report and, if available, internship references.

We are more interested in your inner values. Whether you add a photo to your CV is entirely up to you. It will not have any influence on the application process or the selection procedure.

The perfect application is complete and tells us a lot about you. Above all, the cover letter telling us what motivates you is a good opportunity to convince us of your qualities. Strong motivation sometimes counts for more than school grades and qualifications.

The first impression counts: So please make sure you present clean and tidy documents and that your spelling is accurate. It's a good idea to get a family member of friend to check it over. Possible errors can then be detected in good time.

You can apply to us either by letter or via email. We recommend applying by email. This avoids transportation and saves paper. Our postal and email address can be found at the bottom of the page.

You’ve noticed that some documents are missing? Simply submit them by email. It’s a good idea to give us a call and let us know of any additional documents you wish to submit for your application.

In principle, there is no reason not to apply for more than one trainee position at the same time. However, we recommend choosing just one career path. Concentrate on your particular favourites and listen to your ‘gut feeling’. This is certainly the best way to make the right choice for you.

We look through every application before we give feedback to all of those who have expressed an interest. This means that, as a rule, you will receive feedback some time after the end of the application period.

We only keep your documents for as long as necessary: We delete email applications in accordance with the relevant data protection regulations. We will send application folders back to you by post.

We conduct selection interviews both digitally and on our company premises. When you are invited to the selection interview, we will inform you of the time and place. In addition to you, the training manager, the youth and training representative (JAV) and, if necessary, the representative for the severely disabled and the equal opportunities officer will also be present at the interview.

A bit of excitement is all part of the process! The better prepared you are, the less chance there is of being nervous. Find out all you can about LHG and the trainee position before the interview. Tip: Practice the interview with someone who has previous experience with job interviews. Also, be sure to be punctual and make sure you are dressed appropriately. However, a suit or costume is not necessary.

After the selection interviews, all those involved consult each other. This is how we arrive at a fair and objective selection. As soon as everyone agrees, we will contact you directly. So, after the selection interview, it won't take long before you hear from us. Of course, we will also give you feedback in the event that you have not been selected.

Can't confirm your acceptance of the trainee position immediately? Please let us know. We will then arrange a period of time for you to think things over.

There will still be a few things to sort out before you start your training. For example, we need some personal details for the setup in our payroll program and a photo for the access card. We will contact you by phone or email for this. We usually send the invitation for the first day of training by post. 

All the new LHG trainees meet each other on the first day. You get to know each other and are given answers to the most important questions. Together we go to the different LHG port locations. You take a look at the different training areas and meet those who will be your main points of contact. Training in the specialist departments then starts the next day.

Just as if you were going to an interview: Wear what you feel comfortable in. However, also make sure you dress appropriately.
