Information on handling of dangerous goods

Over 400,000 tons of dangerous goods are transported via the Terminals operated by Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft. All dangerous goods except those in Class 7 (radioactive substances) are handled here, with careful treatment and safety being the top priorities.

With a Dangerous Goods Officer and specially trained staff, everything is done to handle these shipments in accordance with regulations. And for handling Dangerous Goods Class 1 (explosive substances), for example, staff qualified to handle explosives are on hand.

Regular training courses are one element in the standard procedure enabling staff to provide safe and expert handling for dangerous cargoes. LHG holds quality and environmental management certification under ISO 9001 and IS0 14001.

All terminals contain special equipment for preventing dangerous incidents and environmental damage. Regularly held emergency exercises enhance safety in the handling of dangerous goods.
