Prof. Dr. Sebastian Jürgens

Prof. Dr. Sebastian Jürgens, born in 1963, was appointed CEO of LHG on 1st January 2014. As spokesman for the Management, he is currently responsible for the areas of operations, technology, administration, especially finance and digitization, as well as strategy and communication. Jürgens also holds an honorary professorship of transport logistics at the Technical University of Berlin. From 2009, he was a member of the Executive Board of Hamburger Hafen Logistik AG (HHLA) responsible for the Logistics and Intermodal Divisions. Jürgens was able to draw on his experience at Deutsche Bahn, where he was a member of the Divisional Board and member of the Executive Board in charge of the Intermodal Division. He finished his legal studies as Assessor. In addition he achieved a Ph.D. in philosophy. Jürgens began his professional career at McKinsey & Co and in a law firm.

Ortwin Harms

Ortwin Harms, born in 1958, has been the managing director of LHG since 1st April 2021. In the management he is responsible for marketing and sales as well as human resources. After studying nautical science and shipping, from which Harms graduated with a degree in nautical engineering, he went to sea for several years. He was then hired as a port inspector in a shipping office which focused on forest product handling. In 1990 he joined the LHG and initially held leading positions in the operational area, since 1998 as an authorized signatory. Most recently, he was head of the sector marketing and sales.
