Unaccompanied traffic

Northbound (Gates: 4, 5, 6. Lanes: A, B, C) GATEWAY

  • Characteristics:
    Before entering the gate the driver has to fill out the publicly available “GATE REPORT”. This gate report is available at the shipping companies’ offices, different declared place in and at the Hafenhaus and for downloading as a standard form here.
  • Procedure
    On arrival at the terminal, drivers of unaccompanied units either park their vehicles in the waiting area (prior to shipping company booking-in or visits to the Hafenhaus) or drive directly to the gate. Handling lines are marked accordingly.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • The driver hands in the already completely filled out gate report. In case of collecting units at the same time, the driver has to hand in his CIN number at the gate. This is the earliest possible checking possibility for sorting out any potential CIN identification problems before departure. The details of the gate report are checked and completed by the gate personnel. If everything is correct, the driver gets back his gate report including the stowage slot information. After the barrier has been raised, he is able to drive into the port area.

Southbound (Gates: 2, 3). Lanes: U, T)) DEPARTURE

  • The vehicle drives through the scanner to the gate office.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • The driver hands in his already filled out gate report (in case of collecting units the CIN as to be insert into the designated square) to the gate personnel.
  • After the successful check of the CIN the departure barrier is opened and the vehicle is able to leave the port area.
  • Advice: In case of collecting units from terminal leaving the port without CIN is not possible.

Accompanied traffic

Northbound (Lanes: D, E) GATEWAY

  • On arrival at the terminal, drivers of accompanied units park their vehicles in the waiting area, prior to booking-in with the shipping company.
  • After booking-in, drivers receive an ID card from the shipping company, which authorises entry to the terminal.
  • The lanes for accompanied traffic are marked accordingly. The driver inserts his ID card into the designated card reader with card retaining function. The entry barrier opens independently.
  • In case of TT – Line, Nordö und Finnlines, ship access is via separate lanes under a Quick Check-in system. In case of Nordö and Finnlines, units are processed in their own lanes before driving through the gates and into the port, where gate procedures are continued. Nordö’s accompanied vehicles get a cardboard authorisation card which opens the barriers and allows independent entry to the port. TT – Line handling takes place in its own gate lanes and accompanied units are not directed into to the port via LHG gates.

Southbound (Lanes: W, X) DEPARTURE

  • Drivers of southbound accompanied trucks must have their gate passes ready when they leave, because these are collected by gate personnel. Gate passes are distributed to the drivers along with their travel ticket in the departure port.
  • Accompanied trucks are directed out of the terminal without any further stops and via the lane designated for accompanied truck traffic/ personnel.
  • Advice: Vehicles without a gate pass will not be allowed to leave the port.

Car traffic

Northbound (Gates: 10-12. Lanes: F-S) GATEWAY

  • Car traffic enters the port via the specifically marked lane for car traffic.
  • Processing and lining-up in the pre-parking area in front of the gate is organized by the appropriate shipping companies. The processing of vehicles takes place in the gate area. The entry barrier to the terminal is opened by shipping company personnel as dictated by their own requirements for car handling in the pre-parking area. 

Southbound (Lanes: W, X) DEPARTURE

  • The vehicles leave the terminal via the lane designated for accompanied truck traffic/ personnel.

Deliveries (not general cargo)

Northbound (Gates: 4,5,6. Lanes: A,B, C) GATEWAY

  • On arrival at the terminal, delivery vehicles drive along the lanes marked for delivery vehicles to the gate and pass through the scanner.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • At the gate the driver identifies himself to the gate personnel. Authorization can take the form of delivery notes or similar documents. The driver receives a handling certificate, which has to be stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal.
  • After the barrier has been raised, the vehicle can proceed into the port area.

Southbound (Gates: 2,3. Lanes: U,T)

  • The vehicle drives through the scanner to the gate office.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • The driver hands in the handling certificate, which is stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal, to the gate personnel. The details will be checked by the personnel and if everything is correct, the departure barrier will be opened.
  • Advice: Only delivering vehicles with a handling certificate, which is stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal, are allowed to leave the port area.

Terminal visitors

Northbound (Gates: 4,5,6. Lanes: A,B,C) GATEWAY

  • The visitor arrives at the terminal and drives along the lanes marked for visitor traffic through the scanner to the gate office.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • At the gate the driver identifies himself with an official identification card. The driver receives a filled out pass, which has to be stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal. This serves as an exit permit.
  • After the barrier has been raised, the driver can enter into the port area.

Southbound (Gates: 2,3. Lanes: U,T) DEPARTURE

  • Visitors drive through the scanner to the gate office.
  • Photographs of the vehicle and its automatically registered number plate details are displayed on a monitor in the gate office.
  • The driver hands in the pass, which is stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal, to the gate personnel. The details will be checked by the personnel and if everything is correct, the departure barrier will be opened.
  • Advice: Only visitors with a pass, which is stamped and signed by the visited division of the terminal, are allowed to leave the port area.
